| About |
Michael Gooden began writing and experimenting with sounds during his college years when there was nothing else to do in the booming metropolis of Waco, Texas. Many musicians, including longtime friend Jon Cook, have contributed to the evolution of his style and music.
After college, Michael and friends transported to Dallas, Texas, where they began to build a local following. In late 2007, the band changed it's name from michael gooden to Shapes Stars Make. Drawing inspiration largely from instrumental bands such as Explosions in the Sky, Mono, and The Album Leaf, the band's songs are well-crafted pieces that balance beautifully layered melodies and lyrics. In January 2008, Shapes Stars Make recorded their debut album with Producer/Engineer John Congleton (The Appleseed Cast, Explosions in the Sky). The self-titled album was recorded and mixed in six rainy days in Texas. |
